Leh: A delegation from Matho Gonpa and Matho village, led by Chakzot Ven. Lama Jamyang Skarma, today called upon His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to extend a heartfelt invitation to grace the Ladakh Yarchos Chenmo 2026 as the Chief Guest. The event is scheduled to be hosted at Matho Sakya Monastery in the summer of 2026.

The delegation comprised respected representatives from all major local bodies and societies of Matho, including Khenpo Ishey Tsering of Matho Gonpa, Gyapo Namgyal Angchuk of Matho Khar, former MP Sh. Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Sh. Stanzin Chosphel, Hon’ble Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Sh. Tsering Angdus, Nambardar of Matho Village, Smt. Tsering Dolma, President, Matho Ama Tsogspa, Sh. Ishey Tsering, President, Chitsog Phandey Society, Sh. Tsering Tashi, President, Ex-Servicemen Society, Sh. Tamchos Togochey, President, Youth Society of Matho. They were joined by representatives from the Ladakh Buddhist Association, Leh and the All Ladakh Gonpa Association, Leh.

It may be recalled that in 2023, a similar request from Matho delegations was prayerfully made for His Holiness to grace the Ladakh Yarchos Chenmo 2025 after the Zanskar Yarchos Chenmo 2024. However, due to His Holiness’s unavailability for a Ladakh visit in 2024, the events were rescheduled—Zanskar Yarchos Chenmo for 2025 and Matho Yarchos Chenmo for 2026.

In light of this, a joint delegation from Matho and Zanskar had visited His Holiness in Dharamshala last winter to seek His blessings for the revised schedule. Now, following the successful conclusion of the Zanskar Yarchos Chenmo 2025 in Karsha, the Sakya tradition followers in Ladakh have once again requested His Holiness to kindly accept the invitation to attend and bless the Ladakh Yarchos Chenmo 2026 in Matho.
