LEH: Additional Director General (ADG) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) directorate for the Union Territories (UTs) of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Major General RK Sachdeva concluded his Leh visit with exhilarated interaction with NCC Cadets and students of Druk Padma Karpo School Friday.

ADG RK Sachdeva motivated the cadets and students to become better citizens and apprised them about benefits of NCC.

He is of the intention of expanding the NCC battalion in Ladakh union territory, regarding the same reason besides other NCC related issues Sachdeva couple of day ago discussed these with Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra.

Major General Sachdeva informed about the expansion of the NCC directorate for UT Ladakh and the proposal to set up a new NCC battalion at Kargil, besides requesting the LG to earmark land at Kargil for setting up the new NCC battalion.

He also informed about the attachment of NCC cadets from Ladakh to a nearby naval base to provide exposure to them. Major General Sachdeva aklso informed the LG about the need to engage staff for the NCC Battalion at Ladakh as currently there are only four permanent staff.

Major General Sachdeva requested for his intervention in engaging staff, including clerical staff, besides suggested engaging NCC cadets as staff and providing stipends to them.

In recruitment drives in the UT Ladakh, Major General Sachdeva demanded bonus points to NCC cadets by the Ladakh Police and other organisations. He informed that around nine NCC cadets from Ladakh were recruited to Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre through the Agniveer scheme.
