Drass, March 24, 2026: Acting on the directions of the Additional District Magistrate, Kargil, the local administration today carried out a surprise market inspection in Drass to check the illegal use of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes.
The inspection was led by Naib Tehsildar Drass M. Ibrahim Khan, accompanied by Niyaz Ahmad (TSO Drass), Nazir Ahmad (ASI and Incharge Police Post Drass), and storekeepers Mohd Yousuf and Ashfaaq Ahmad.
During the inspection, several tea stalls, hotels, and restaurants were found violating government norms by using domestic LPG cylinders for commercial activities, which is strictly prohibited under existing regulations. Officials took note of the violations and warned erring establishments against such practices.
Authorities stated that such inspections are part of ongoing efforts to ensure fair distribution of subsidized LPG and to prevent misuse meant for domestic consumers.
The drive was conducted smoothly and concluded successfully, with officials reiterating that strict action will be taken against violators in future inspections.
