Kargil, December 30, 2025: Two Days District Level Multilingual Mushaira and Afsana Sessions organzied by the Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (LAACL), Kargil kick started at the Academy Hall, Kargil here today.
Held in connection with the traditional new year celebrations under the title Losar-e-Dus Dang, over 50 eminent poets, writers, scholars, and students from Degree College Kargil are participating in the 2 day literary event, making the programme a vibrant celebration of Kargil’s rich multilingual literary heritage.
The literary session featured presentations by distinguished poets and writers including Padma Shri Dr. Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat, Gyem Nawang Paljor (Ladakhi), Aga Syed Raza Razvi (Purgi), Raza Amjad Badghami (Sheena Dardi/Urdu), Akhone Ali Subeor (Balti), Mohd Shafi Sagar (Afsana Nigaar, Sheena Dardi), Mohd Ali Khumar (Urdu/Purgi), Fida Ali Karkiti (Urdu/Sheena Dardi), Master Baqir Rafeeq (Urdu/Purgi), Ali Asgar Rinchan (Urdu/Balti), Mohd Abass Skit (Afsana Nigaar, Urdu/Balti), Mohd Taqi Khan Nayaab (Purgi/Urdu), Feroz Ahmad Chiraag (Urdu/Sheena Dardi), Fida Hussain Wazir Fida (Purgi), Tsewang Rigzin (Purgi), Sajad Ali Shujaat (Purgi/Urdu), Ghulam Murtaza Sabiri (Afsana Nigaar, Purgi), Abdul Hadi Balti (Balti), Gulzar Hussain Zayan (Balti), and Ahmad Hussain Olpa (Purgi). Their compositions reflected contemporary social realities, moral values, human relationships, environmental concerns, cultural identity, and the challenges posed by rapid modernization.
The event prominently highlighted the role of literature as a mirror of society, where poets and writers used satire, symbolism, and storytelling to address issues such as environmental degradation, erosion of cultural values, climate change, and the need for unity and moral responsibility. Special emphasis was laid on youth awareness, preservation of native languages, harmony among communities, and the relevance of traditional wisdom in the modern era.
Earlier while welcoming the guests, writers and poets, Special Officer for Culture Kargil, Muhammad Ali Tak underlined the objectives of the 2 day literary event and also spoke about the endeavors of the LAACL, Kargil towards the promotion and preservation of the regional languages and cultural heritage.
The programme concluded with a Sadarati Khutba by Padma Shri Dr. Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat, followed by a vote of thanks presented by Zakir Hussain Khan, Head Assistant.
The event reaffirmed LAACL’s continued commitment to the promotion and preservation of Kargil’s diverse literary traditions and languages.
