
LMGA, MRL conducts Mountain Rescue Course in Leh
SHEY SMANLA: Ladakh Mountain Guides Association and Mountain Rescue Ladakh with support from Bergrettung Lech Am Arlberg (Vorarlberg) Austria conducted a comprehensive 12 days Mountain Rescue Course at the Rock Climbing site at Shey Smanla.
The closing ceremony was graced by the Executive Councillor for Minority Affairs, Ghulam Mehdi as the chief guest.
Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Ladakh, Moses Kunzang, and ADC Leh Sonam Chosjor were the guests of honor.
The mountain rescue courses included Mountain Rescue Trainers Course and Mountain Rescue Skills Course for the locals which were trained by professionals from Bergrettung Lech Am Arlberg (Vorarlberg) Austria. Demonstrations of the rescue work were also showcased during the occasion by the local trainees.
All of them were further felicitated and provided with course completion certificates by the dignitaries. The volunteer trainers from Bergrettung Lech Am Arlberg (Vorarlberg) Austria were also felicitated by the chief guest and the guest of honor.
EC Mehdi in his address emphasised the importance of promoting adventure sports in Ladakh and highlighted the immense potential of local youths in this sector.
He added that the Rescue courses would definitely enhance the training of the local youths and would be beneficial for many in the days to come.
He also assured continuous assistance from the Hill Council, Leh towards promoting and strengthening adventure sports in Leh Ladakh.
