Leh: Chairman, CEC, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson was called on by a delegation from the newly formed Ladakh Infra Developer Alliance (LIDA) the other day.
The delegation comprised LIDA Chairman Tsering Angchuk Tsao, Co-Chairman Sonam Angchuk Chumkar, General Secretary Gelek Phunchok D’Lonpo, along with Joint Secretaries.
LIDA, a collective platform of local contractors, transporters, engineers, and infrastructure stakeholders, briefed the CEC on the alliance’s vision to ensure equitable opportunities for local players in public works, promote employment generation, and strengthen regional capacity through policy-level support.
The delegation also advocated for the prioritization of local contractors, engineers, and transporters in all government infrastructure projects across Ladakh, and proposed a mandatory requirement of a Ladakh Resident Certificate (LRC) for reservation of government works up to ₹10 crore, enabling rightful opportunity and empowerment of local stakeholders.
They also took the opportunity to express appreciation for the CEC’s visionary leadership in advancing key reforms for Ladakh, particularly the historic decision to reserve 33% seats for women in LAHDC Leh and extended heartfelt gratitude to the Government of India, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for their support towards the development of Ladakh.
The CEC reiterated the Council’s commitment to empowering local stakeholders and assured to take up the matter with UT Administration.
