Leh, March 24, 2026: Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena visited Sindhu Ghat today to take stock of the preparations for the upcoming first Sindhu Mahakumbh in Leh.
During the visit, the LG directed concerned departments to undertake a comprehensive makeover of the site, including:
- Removal of debris and repair of the ghat structure
- Aesthetic landscaping of the riverfront
- Sprucing up of the approach roads
- Trimming of existing shrubs and development of footpaths
- Provision of adequate lighting, sanitation, and other visitor amenities
LG Saxena emphasized that the works should be regularly monitored, with no compromise on the quality of civic infrastructure while preserving Ladakh’s unique heritage.
“The aim is to ensure the safety, convenience, and overall experience of visitors attending this historic Mahakumbh,” the LG said, adding that the preparations reflect a commitment to world-class infrastructure and heritage preservation.
Officials were instructed to maintain strict timelines and ensure that the Sindhu Ghat and surrounding areas are fully ready well before the event.
