Leh: In a major relief to residents of Ladakh, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has ordered the renewal of long-pending expired lease deeds, addressing a demand that had remained unresolved for years.
The decision is set to provide legal security to landholders across the region, benefiting a large section of the population whose lease cases had been pending for prolonged periods.
The Lieutenant Governor has directed the Chief Secretary to organise special camps to fast-track the clearance of such cases and ensure timely distribution of renewed lease documents. The first camp is scheduled to be held on April 15, where applicants will receive their renewed lease deeds after verification of documents and payment of the prescribed licence fee.
Officials said the move is aimed at streamlining governance, improving transparency, and ensuring security of tenure for affected families. The initiative is also expected to reduce administrative delays and bring much-needed stability to land-related matters in Ladakh.
Reaffirming his commitment to citizen-centric governance, Saxena said the Administration is focused on delivering responsive and efficient services, ensuring that long-pending public issues are resolved in a time-bound manner.
