Leh: Director General (DG), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhary called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, in New Delhi today to provide updates on their various ongoing and future projects in Ladakh.
DG BRO Lt Gen Rajeev informed about efforts being made to keep the Zoji La open as long as possible.
He also informed about various steps being taken by BRO to prevent accidents of dozers during the clearance of snow and various other activities at Zoji La.
He further informed about various new technologies being explored for navigation and mapping by BRO.
DG BRO apprised that the work on the detailed project report (DPR) for Shinku-La is underway, while the DPR for the internal tunnels in Ladakh is in the final stage.
He also provided updates on the DPR for Key-La, Lachung-La, Fotu-La, Namika-La and Khargung La.
He shared about the investment of Rs 1,688 crores to build 11 bridges in Ladakh. He informed about the construction of nine roads and 29 bridges over the next nine months.
DG BRO informed about the ongoing work on the Nyeraks-Chilling Road and also the bridge to Zanskar. He also provided updates on the interlocking concrete blocks being laid on mountain passes in Ladakh.
LG Mathur appreciated BRO for keeping the Zoji La open till late December. He advised that the Korzok-Himachal Pradesh Road may be developed as an all-weather road.
