Leh: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, virtually attended the 11th phase of the mass plantation drive organised by Go Green, Green Organic in collaboration with UT Administration and LAHDC Leh at Chushul in Changthang on the occasion of World Environment Day. Around 150,000 saplings were planted during the mass plantation drive. His Holiness Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche was conferred the title of Green Ambassador of Ladakh during the function.
LG Mathur appreciated and thanked His Holiness Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche on behalf of the people of Ladakh for his visionary initiative of planting 1.5 lakh saplings on the occasion of World Environment Day. He stated that it is an exemplary step to take such a bold step of planting such a huge number of trees at a challenging place like Chushul. He further stated that Ladakh would become a greener and more eco-friendly region with his blessings and efforts.
LG Mathur also appreciated Hill Council, Leh and other stakeholders for their collective efforts in making the Go Green, Go Organic project successful. He thanked the people from different parts of Ladakh for voluntarily participating in the mass plantation drive.
His Holiness Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche thanked all the participants and supporters for making the mass plantation drive successful. He stated that the objective of Go Green Go Organic is to promote sustainable lifestyles that are in harmony with nature. He shared that the mass plantation drive is a part of his vision. His Holiness Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche appreciated the contributions of individuals for planting trees in huge numbers.
Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson and Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, informed that the Administration and Hill Council are working collectively for the welfare and sustainable development of the people of Changthang through special packages such as Changthang Development Package. They highlighted the development activities in Changthang after the formation of Ladakh as a Union Territory. They congratulated His Holiness Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche for receiving the Green Ambassador of Ladakh title.
His Eminence (HE) Thuksey Rinpoche and HE Chosje Togdan Rinpoche stressed the need for maintaining a balanced eco-system in Ladakh. They appreciated His Holiness Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche’s initiative of conducting the mass plantation drive.
