Leh: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, met and interacted with the mediapersons from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh who are on a week-long press tour to Ladakh organised by Press Information Bureau (PIB), Jaipur.
Principal Secretary, Dr Pawan Kotwal; Divisional Commissioner, Saugat Biswas; Commissioner/Secretary, Information, Padma Angmo; Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Mehboob Ali Khan; Assistant Director, DIPR Leh, Dr Tundup Namgyal and representatives from PIB Jaipur were also present during the interaction session.

LG Mathur informed about various developmental activities in Ladakh in various sectors after the formation of the region as a Union Territory in 2019.
LG Mathur stated that the Rs 50,000 crores Special Development Package announced by the Government of India for Ladakh is being utilised for the development of this trans-Himalayan region. He informed about efforts being made to realise the mantra given by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to develop Ladakh into the country’s first carbon-neutral region.
LG Mathur informed about various initiatives being taken by the Administration jointly with both Hill Councils to realise the potential of renewable sources of energy, including solar, wind, hydel and geothermal in Ladakh. He apprised of steps being taken to document the folklores and folksongs along with the history of villages of Ladakh to preserve its rich cultural heritage. He informed about development in other sectors, viz. education, infrastructure development, tourism, etc. LG Mathur informed about the impact of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme on the lives of the people in rural areas of Ladakh.
The team from Jaipur will visit Kargil and Leh to study the implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes and projects in Ladakh. The team includes Pawan Singh Faujdar and Mahendra Kumar Meena (both officials from PIB), Nawaljeet Saxena (Dainik Bhaskar), Avinash Kewaliya (Rajasthan Patrika), Yogendra Sharma (Jan TV), Mohd Asif (News 18), Mohd Shoeb Khan (Times of India), Avinash Parashar (Dainik Nav Jyoti), Sanjay Kumar (Samachar Jagat), Ishwardas Bairagi (Hindustan Samachar), Anil Cholkar (Raj Express), Krishna Dutta Sharma (New Duniya) and Manveer Chundawat (Zee Media).
