Leh : Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, met multiple delegations at the LG Secretariat in Leh, pledging inclusive and sustainable development for the Union Territory.
Chairman/CEC LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson, along with Leh’s four district presidents — Tsering Sandup (Nubra), Ishey Spalzang (Changthang), Stanzin Chosphel (Leh), and Kochok Ishey (Sham) — raised key issues including concerns over the Karakoram Wildlife Sanctuary, the Phyang-Nubra Transmission Line, and salary hikes for Army porters at Siachen Glacier.
Ven Bhikkhu Sanghasena, founder of Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, and former MLA Tsering Samphel invited the LG to the International Peace Conference in Leh from August 23–25, and briefed him on MIMC’s welfare projects, including a charitable hospital, residential schools, and a yoga centre.
A delegation of Indian Army personnel and ex-servicemen, led by Col Kamal Pandey, Commandant of the Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre, discussed ongoing community service efforts, preparations for the last rites of Ashok Chakra awardee Naib Subedar Chhering Mutup (Retd), and the availability of 350 volunteers for emergencies.
The Ladakh Pencak Silat Association sought support for establishing Khelo India Centres of Excellence in Leh and Kargil, while staff from District De-Addiction Centres in Leh and Kargil raised operational concerns.
LG Kavinder Gupta reaffirmed his commitment to proactive governance, saying Ladakh’s development must reflect the aspirations of its people.
