Leh: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, called for time-bound delivery of services, efficient governance, and visible on-ground development across the Union Territory during a high-level review meeting held at the LG Secretariat on Wednesday.
Chairing a comprehensive departmental review, the LG directed officials to adopt a result-oriented approach, eliminate file pendency, and ensure timely completion of developmental projects.
The review covered key departments, including Revenue, Finance, Home, Police, Health, Forest, Labour, and Environment. Chief Secretary Pawan Kotwal gave an overview of departmental performance and highlighted progress under major schemes like the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP) and SVAMITVA.
He also discussed plans for the creation of five new districts, along with budget utilisation efforts through PMFS and LIFMS platforms.
DGP S.D. Singh Jamwal presented updates on the functioning of the Home Department and Ladakh Police, covering recruitment, staffing, key initiatives, and upcoming infrastructure projects.
In the post-lunch session, Principal Secretary Sanjeev Khirwar briefed the LG on healthcare delivery, National Health Mission projects, and upcoming initiatives like the Medical College in Leh.
Wildlife Warden Mandeep Mittal discussed efforts to rationalise wildlife sanctuary boundaries, wildlife rescue operations, and the Dark Sky Reserve project in Hanle.
The Labour Department’s activities, including those under the Ladakh Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board, were also reviewed.
In his concluding remarks, the LG stressed optimal resource use and project execution within deadlines, urging visible improvements that benefit the people of Ladakh.
