Leh: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, held two key meetings at Raj Niwas, Leh, aimed at bolstering governance and improving border infrastructure in the region.
In the first meeting, KK Pathak, IAS, Special Secretary from the Cabinet Secretariat, Rashtrapati Bhawan, called on the LG to discuss the national initiative on deregulation and reducing compliance burdens. Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal also attended the meeting.
Pathak briefed the LG on efforts by the Government of India to simplify regulatory frameworks, making it easier to do business and attract investments. He appreciated Ladakh’s proactive administration and expressed optimism about successful implementation of reforms in the UT.
LG Gupta assured full support from the UT Administration, emphasizing the need to eliminate bureaucratic obstacles and unlock Ladakh’s economic potential in tourism and other sectors. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment that empowers local entrepreneurs and investors.
In a separate meeting, Brigadier Vishal Srivastava, Chief Engineer of Project Himank, updated the LG on critical road and infrastructure projects in eastern Ladakh. The briefing included progress on the Nyoma Airfield—scheduled for completion by September 2025—and other strategic road works in the region.
LG Gupta praised the Border Roads Organisation and Project Himank for their dedication, especially in the challenging terrain of Ladakh. He underscored the vital role of such infrastructure in ensuring national security and improving regional connectivity and development.
Together, these discussions mark significant steps in aligning Ladakh’s governance and infrastructure priorities with national growth objectives.
