New Delhi, December 12:
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Shri Kavinder Gupta on Thursday met Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi and held detailed discussions on Ladakh’s developmental priorities, financial requirements and infrastructure strengthening for inclusive growth.

During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor apprised the Finance Minister of the UT Administration’s efforts to accelerate development works, strengthen institutional capacity and ensure timely and efficient utilisation of funds. He highlighted the systems put in place to streamline project implementation across the region.

The LG sought enhanced budgetary support to sustain development momentum, stressing the need for adequate capital assistance for infrastructure projects, land acquisition for major central sector projects, and continued support for local self-government institutions.

Issues related to power sector obligations, disaster management preparedness, and further strengthening of grassroots governance were also discussed, with the LG emphasising the importance of financial backing to ensure uninterrupted public services and resilience against natural challenges.

The Union Finance Minister gave a patient hearing and assured that the requests put forth by the UT Administration of Ladakh would be examined in a positive and supportive manner.

The meeting reaffirmed the Government of India’s commitment to sustained engagement with the UT Administration for balanced and sustainable development in Ladakh.
