Leh: Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta has assured residents of Shayok in Ladakh’s Nubra region that every effort will be made to address their concerns, including those in remote “last-mile” areas.
The assurance came during a meeting with a delegation led by Ladakh Buddhist Association Vice-President Kunzes Dolma, accompanied by residents Tsewang Chuskit and Tsetan Angmo.
They highlighted that the Nubra–Pangong road via Shayok has remained blocked for weeks following a mudslide, with no progress on clearance despite repeated requests to the Public Works Department and Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
The delegation also urged the administration to include Shayok village in the Actual Line of Control (ALC) category due to its proximity to Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO).
After hearing their grievances, the LG said the UT administration would immediately write to the BRO to expedite road clearance so that livelihoods in the area are not further affected.
Earlier, the LG also met former J&K Chief Secretary C. Phuntsog and members of the Ladakh Buddhist Association, Kargil.
