
LG for resolving power tariff equation between Ladakh and J&K
LEH: Chairman, Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) for UT Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Lokesh Jha, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas.
Secretary, Ladakh Power Development Department (LPDD), Ladakh, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS; Member (Finance) JERC, Mohd Rafi Andrabi and Secretary, JERC, RK Dhar were also present in the meeting held on Saturday, an official spokesperson informed today.
Jha discussed various issues related to power in Ladakh, viz. distribution and transmission of power in Ladakh, fixation of tariff, etc. He apprised the LG of the annual meeting with the concerned stakeholders, public representatives and the public of Ladakh to discuss the tariff petition of Ladakh Power Development Department for the year 2023-24 and the business plan for the next financial year.
Secretary, LPDD, Ravinder Kumar informed LG that the power tariff was issued in Ladakh after a gap of 6 years in 2022. He also informed that the Ministry had instructed to issue regular tariffs every year as a result of which LPDD is issuing tariffs regularly. He also informed that JERC fixes tariffs on renewable energy.
The LG inquired about the power tariff equation between J&K and Ladakh and highlighted the need to resolve the issue for the benefit of the people of Ladakh.
Chairman, JERC, Jha assured to look into the matter and resolve the issue.
