Leh: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) met His Eminence Palga Rinpoche and members of Choskyong Palga Charitable Institute Ladakh, at Raj Niwas Tuesday.

HE Palga Rinpoche informed about his educational and spiritual background and assured of full support to work in close coordination with the Administration for the benefit and development of the people of Ladakh.

He also appreciated the various developmental activities being carried out in Ladakh after the formation of Ladakh as a union territory. HE Palga Rinpoche also informed about the Buddhist monastery at Kargil district.

The LG informed about various initiatives taken by the UT Administration along with the Hill Councils for airlifting citizens of Ladakh stranded at Delhi, Chandigarh and Jammu.

He asked HE Palga Rinpoche and his followers to work for the promotion of tradition and culture of Ladakh, improving the standard of educational and health facilities and strive for the progress and development of Ladakhi society to meet the aspirations of the people of Ladakh.

The LG assured of all possible assistance for the welfare of the people of the Buddhist community.

A delegation from Anjuman Imamia Leh comprising its President, Ashraf Ali Barcha; Vice-President, Shiekh Nazir Ahmed; President, Women Wing, Nasreen Maryam and President, Youth Wing, Dr Fida Hussian, met Lieutenant Governor, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at Raj Niwas.

Ashraf Ali and other delegates congratulated Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) on assuming the charge of the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.

He informed about various social welfare initiatives taken by Anjuman Imamia Leh for the benefit of the people of Ladakh.

He also informed about the blood donation camps organised by the Youth Wing with the help of the Health Department and further informed about various initiatives taken by the Women Wing for the conservation of the environment and maintaining harmony among different societies in Ladakh.

The LG assured of all possible assistance for the welfare of the people of the Shia community.
