In a strong push towards women-led rural development, the Ladakh Rural Livelihood Mission (LRLM) on Monday commenced a three-day residential training programme on farm livelihoods in Leh district, aimed at empowering grassroots women cadres with practical and sustainable income-generation skills.
The training, being held from January 12 to 14, has brought together 110 women participants, including Pashu Sakhis, Krishi Sakhis and other cadres from across Leh district. The programme focuses on strengthening farm-based livelihoods, particularly in the field of animal husbandry, a key economic activity in the region.
Expert resource persons from the Animal Husbandry Department are conducting intensive sessions at Hotel Mountain Vibes, Skara Yokma, Leh. The curriculum includes modern animal rearing practices, fodder management, disease prevention, breed improvement, and value addition in dairy and livestock products, enabling participants to translate learning into real economic gains at the village level.
Designed as a residential programme, the training blends hands-on demonstrations, group discussions and field exposure, ensuring participants gain practical, community-oriented knowledge. The serene setting of Skara Yokma, close to Leh town and the airport, provided an ideal environment for focused learning.
The initiative underscores LRLM’s sustained commitment to women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, and the promotion of sustainable farm livelihoods in Ladakh’s rural landscape, positioning trained women as key drivers of economic resilience in their communities.
