The Zonal Education Office, Leh, today conducted a focused workshop and review meeting on School Management Committees (SMCs) and School Management and Development Committees (SMDCs) under Samagra Shiksha and the Social Audit component of PM Poshan.
The session saw the participation of Secretary School Education, Ms. Banu Prabha (IAS), Director School Education, Ms. Tashi Dolma, Chief Education Officer Leh, Ms. Deldan Angmo, and Zonal Education Officer Leh, Ms. Padma Deachen—underscoring the administration’s commitment to strengthening school governance and enhancing community involvement in education.
The workshop opened with a welcome address by the ZEO Leh, followed by detailed presentations from ZEPO Leh, ZRP, and the PM Poshan Incharge on centrally sponsored schemes and grant utilization. SMCs and SMDCs from various schools also highlighted on-ground challenges, which were acknowledged by the senior officials.
Emphasizing the crucial role of empowered school committees, the dignitaries noted that strong community engagement directly contributes to improved learning outcomes, better school environments, and increased trust in government schools. They also called for intensified efforts to boost student enrolment across the district.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the ZEO Leh, appreciating the active participation and constructive discussions from all attendees.
