Leh, March 6: Deputy Commissioner Leh Romil Singh Donk on Friday launched a district-wide cleanliness initiative titled “Leh gLagsmo”, aimed at promoting a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful Leh town.
The six-month campaign focuses on improving sanitation standards, promoting responsible waste disposal and encouraging community participation in maintaining public hygiene across the district.
As part of the initiative, a special week-long cleanliness drive will begin from March 9 across Leh town. During this period, focused cleaning activities will be carried out in streets, marketplaces, public places and identified waste hotspots.
The drive will see active participation from municipal teams, volunteers, educational institutions and several local organisations, including the Leh Merchant Association, All Ladakh Gonpa Association and the All Ladakh Tour Operators Association.
The initiative emphasises community participation, waste segregation and collective responsibility towards maintaining a clean urban environment. The District Administration has urged residents, business establishments and stakeholders to actively support the campaign and contribute towards making Leh a clean and sustainable district.
