Legal Services Authority Kargil celebrates Intl. Women’s Week at different rural areas

Kargil: National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) along with National Commission for Women (NCW) has launched a pan-India Legal Awareness Program for Women “Empowerment of Women through Legal Awareness”.

 

In view of the same, Ladakh Legal Services Authority (LLSA) directed to organize a program on Intl. Women’s Week from March 04 to March 11. 

As per the direction of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kargil, International Women’s Week was celebrated at different rural areas and far-flung areas sub-divisions in the whole Kargil district.

 

On March 06, DLSA Kargil organizes the International Women’s Week at Imam Khomeni Tower Kargil, on the occasion resource person Adv. Kaneez Fatima and Hasena Batool spokes on the day. The program was attended by about 250 people.

 

On March 07, DLSA Kargil conducted the Intl. Women’s Day at Community Hall Baroo, Kargil. On the occasion, resource person Khadim Hussain and Adv. Kaneez, both asserted women rights and duties. The program was participated by around 150 people.

 

On March 10, DLSA Kargil conducted the Intl. Women’s Week and legal awareness program for women at Tehsil Legal Services Committee Sankoo in a broad way at Zainabia Hall Sankoo which is 50 km away from the headquarter.

 

On the occasion, chief guest ICPP Sankoo, Tsering Dolkar highlighted the importance of gender equality for the holistic development society. She also stressed on women to more vocal in presenting their voice against injustice in society.

 

Dr Nasreen Fatima was the special guest and she highlighted issues regarding women reproductive health and advised to seek medical help without fail. 

Resource person Adv. Kaneez Fatima highlighted those laws and legislation that are specially made for them and also said about domestic violence and their legal rights.

 

Another resource person Haseena Batool, a social worker, spoke on the occasion about gender equality and women empowerment and many other delegates also spoke on the day. The program was attended by about 200 people.

 

On March 11 (on the last day of Intl. Women’s Week) DLSA Kargil conducted two major programs at TLSCs, one at Tehsil Legal Services Committee at Zanskar and another at the Tehsil Legal Services Committee at Drass.

 

The Tehsil Legal Services Committee organized the program at Dak Bungalow Padum, Zanskar. On the occasion, resource person Adv. Lobzang Gaylack highlighted rights of women, Women Protection Act, Domestic Acts and also mentioned different offices through which particularly women can take help like family court, legal aid clinic and DLSA and TLSC.

 

Another resource person Ahmad Hussain, a social worker, spoke on the occasion about gender equality, gender issues, women empowerment etc. and many other speakers also lit up the day. The program was attended by about 200 people.

 

At Drass, the Tehsil legal services Committee Drass conducted the Intl. Women’s Week at GDC Drass despite minus 10. 

On the occasion, Najuma Banoo BDC was the chief guest who spoke about women empowerment and gender equality.

 

Amjad Abassi, Principal GDC Drass, Abdul Majeed ZEO Drass and Daaulat Ali ICPP Drass were special guests and highlighted theme of the program in a different perspective.

 

Resource person Khadim Hussain spoke about rights of women in the Indian constitution. 

Many other speakers also highlighted many aspects of society where women face distress and difficulties. The program was attended by around 190 people.

 

At the end of each program, a question-answer session was conducted and the resource person and delegate replied to all the questions put forth by participants.

 

In the programs, the respective staff members of DLSA, TLSCs and respective PLVs of TLSCs and PLVs of Legal Aid Clinics and respective Sarpanches, Panches, respective Anganwaries and ASHA workers took part.

 

Pamphlets were distributed among the participants in each program, mentioning women-related information about laws.
