LEH: Demanding timely justice delivery to minor girl rape victim of Leh, the civil societies, trade and transport associations of union territory Ladakh have called for complete shutdown ‘Chakka Jam’ on April 11.
Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) and Ladakh (LGA) unanimously have taken the call, and asked the people to hold peaceful protest while shutting down the entire business establishment for the day.
LBA spokesperson while addressing media persons said that concerning the recent unfortunate event in our society, they have decided that Ladakh will observe shutdown on April 11 and a peaceful protest rally will also be organized at 10AM.
Both LBA and LGA have sought support from other trade and transport associations to make the ‘Chakka Jam’ a success.
Both the associations demanded quick justice delivery through Fast Track Court under the POSCO Act.
All Ladakh transports association, merchant association, bike union, 407, 207 unions and other alliances have extended their support to the shutdown call.
All shops, business establishments shall remain closed, people of all corners were advised to come out on streets for a peaceful protest demanding justice for the victim and stern punishment to the rapists.
On March 31, a minor school girl in Leh was kidnapped and raped by an elderly man, who later tried to kill her also.
Police in prompt action had arrested the accused within 48 hours and lodged an FIR and initiated the investigation.
On April 3, protest demonstrations, rallies were held across Ladakh union territory in solidarity with the victim.
