Leh: Hill Council, Leh observed a solemn two-minute silence, bringing office works to a halt to honour the martyrs on the occasion of Martyr’s Day Tuesday.
Dy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk led the gathering which was further attended by Executive Councillor for Minority Affairs, Ghulam Mehdi; Private Secretary/OSD to the CEC, Jigmet Raftan; Chief Controller of Finance LAHDC Leh, Jigmet Namgail and officers and officials the Council Secretariat, Leh.
Dy Chairman emphasised the significance of this day, shedding light on the invaluable sacrifices made by the martyrs for the nation in its struggle for freedom from British rule led by the father of the nation, M.K Gandhi.
He also shed light on the courageous contributions of Ladakhi martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of Ladakh.
Dy Chairman requested everyone to remain committed to honouring the legacy of these brave individuals and urged the officials to contribute to effective governance at their personal level.
Highlighting the importance of the day, DC reiterated the collective responsibility of every individual to contribute towards shaping a brighter future for Ladakh as a newly established Union Territory.
