KARGIL: Ladakh has one of the richest cultures, with different traditions and languages amalgamating into a beautiful bouquet, said Lieutenant Governor Brigadier BD Mishra on Monday, as he inaugurated third edition of Ladakh Literary Conference here.
The two-day conference organised at Syed Mehdi Memorial Hall Kargil is being attended by writers, poets and artists from both Leh and Kargil districts.
Expressing his joy on attending the Literary Conference, the LG said that he was astonished to know the richness of the language and cultural diversity of Ladakh through different languages, including Purgi, Bhoti, Ladakhi, Balti, Shina, Dardi, Urdu and even in English.
“Ladakh has one of the richest cultures in the entire country. There are so many different traditions and languages amalgamating into a beautiful bouquet. I am amazed to learn this,” said the LG.
He also expressed his joy on being invited to the conference by Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan.
“I was pleasantly surprised when the CEC invited me. I have remained governor of 3 states, but no one invited me to any such event there. I am very happy. Not just writers, but the artists, performing artists, painters, and sculptors are also (participating) here. This shows the great culture that Ladakh has,” said the LG.
Talking about the importance of education and expressing the concern of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the education system, particularly Exams, LG Mishra distributed Exam Warriors Book by the Prime Minister to students of the different schools.
“The children must be given confidence so that they don’t run after government jobs but rather give jobs to others,” he said.
He mentioned that the Prime Minister still remembers the incident when the people of Kargil got stranded in Iran during the COVID-19 pandemic period and their process of evacuation.
“This shows the love the Prime Minister has for Kargil,” added the Lieutenant Governor.
The LG also visited the various stalls put up at the conference by Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, and other authors.
Earlier, during the inaugural session, two papers were presented, one by Purgi Scholar Issa Sabiri on the Development of Purgi Language and Script and another by Gen Tubstan Paldan (State Awardee) on Ladakh Language and Literature-An Insight.
At the conference, CEC Khan released a book titled “Mashaheer Adab Ka Interview Nama” authored by Shabir Misbahi. EC Social Welfare, Agha Syed Mehdi was also present.
