Ladakh’s renowned “Bridge Man,” Ghulam Haider Naktru, tragically passed away in a road accident in late September 2025. The accident occurred near Khardongla Pass, claiming the life of Ghulam Hussain from Bogdang as well.
Ghulam Haider Naktru was known for his dedication, hard work, and commitment. Throughout his life, he constructed numerous bridges across the remote regions of Ladakh, greatly easing connectivity for the local population. His remarkable contributions earned him the title “Bridge Man of Ladakh,” along with several awards and recognitions.
MP Mohmad Haneefa expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss, stating that Naktru Sahib’s contribution remains an integral part of Ladakh’s development story. His spirit of service, simplicity, and devotion will always be remembered with deep respect.
