Leh: In a proud moment for Ladakh, two young changemakers, Zaibun Nissa and Siddiqa Banoo, represented the Union Territory at the International Conference on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) held at Tagore Hall, Srinagar.
The event, organized by the Global Human Rights Trust (under its special consultative status with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs), focused on the role of UT Ladakh and UT J&K in achieving SDGs.
Mentored by Sajjad Bob, the founder of Team Stringmo, Zaibun and Siddiqa shared powerful insights on Ladakh’s challenges and aspirations, highlighting youth involvement, cultural preservation, and gender equality.
Their bold and thoughtful presentation stood out, reflecting the voice of Ladakhi youth on national and global platforms.
The conference witnessed participation from several dignitaries, including Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi (MoS and Chairperson, J&K Waqf Board) as Chief Guest, Sushma Muppidi (Brand Ambassador, Telangana Biodiversity Board) as Guest of Honour, and Dr. Sanket Kharpudi (Ministry of Communications) as Special Guest.
Renowned experts from across India shared their take on implementing SDGs in Himalayan and remote regions. But it was the clarity and commitment of Team Stringmo’s representatives that drew heartfelt appreciation and applause from the audience.
For their outstanding contribution, both Zaibun Nissa and Siddiqa Banoo were felicitated by the organizers—marking another proud milestone in Team Stringmo’s mission to empower young women through education, art, and awareness.
