
Ladakh’s Chushul residents resent lack of mention of their contribution in wars
KARGIL: Residents of Chushul in eastern Ladakh bordering China regret that their contribution in maintaining frontline defences in the region has gone unrecognized and is not even being mentioned at war memorial events, and books.
Councilor of Chushul, Konchan Stanzin the hotbed of the current standoff between India and China since April-May 2020, in a twitter post has regretted that the huge contribution of the local people has not been mentioned in any of the books that how they moved shoulder to shoulder with the army in all the wars fought in their region , whether in 1947, 1962 and 2020. But, he regretted that their contribution was never mentioned in books.
He wrote on his Twitter handle, “Local stand by the Army in the defence of our motherland. Whether in 1947,1962 or 2020 clashed but always failed to mention their contribution, you won’t get a local contribution in any books, Local had carried the bodies of martyred soldiers on yak from Sirijab & Re-Zangla.”
