Ladakh welcomes Indian Women’s Ice Hockey team


LEH: Hill Council, Leh warmly welcomed the Indian Women’s Ice Hockey team upon their arrival at the KBR Airport in Leh Tuesday.

Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Ladakh, Moses Kunzang and DYSSO Leh, Tsering Tashi and other concerned officials were present during the reception.

The Indian National Women’s team comprises athletes from Ladakh who put up a remarkable performance in the Ice Hockey Women’s Asia and Oceania Championship and reached the semi-finals.

Receiving the athletes on behalf of LAHDC Leh, Councillor Lobzang Sherab congratulated them for their outstanding performances at the championship and stated that the athletes have made the entire Ladakh proud, and their achievements will inspire many young athletes in the region to take up ice hockey and other sports. He further expressed gratitude to the coaches, staff, and supporters of the National team for their contribution to the athletes’ success.

Chairman/CEC, Tashi Gyalson in his message stated, “National Women’s team’s performance at the championship is commendable, and their journey till the semi-finals is an outstanding achievement.

Although they lost in the semi-finals, the team’s efforts, hard work, and determination have not gone unnoticed. We appreciate the dedication of athletes to the sport and their exemplary representation of Ladakh in particular and India at the international level.”
