
Ladakh Vipassana Centre, Athletic Association, Hoteliers delegations call on LG Mishra
Leh: A delegation comprising members of Ladakh Vipassana Centre led by D Bhave and Col Sonam Wangchuk (Retd) called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas.
Bhave informed about the various vipassana meditation courses introduced by them at the Centre in Saboo. He also informed about two projects initiated by them- one for the youth and another for the elderly people.
He further informed about the introduction of vipassana meditation courses at many schools in Maharashtra.
Bhave informed about their plan to conduct 10-day vipassana meditation courses for government/private teachers and government officials and requested for the LG’s assistance in this regard.
He also informed that students from Lamdol Model Senior Secondary School will also take part in the course. The LG assured to provide all possible support.
Vice-President, Athletic Association of Ladakh, Tsering Sangrup, called on the LG at Raj Niwas Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Ravinder Kumar was present in the meeting.
Sangrup informed the LG about the recent formation of the Association with renowned athlete Rigzen Angmo as its president. He also informed about the plan of the Association to organise an athletic meet to identify talented athletes from Ladakh so that they could be selected and sent for training for various national events.
He requested for assistance for the procurement of equipment for organising the said event.
The LG instructed Ravinder Kumar to look into the matter and provide all possible support in this regard.
Spalzes Angmo, a hotelier from Leh, called on the LG at Raj Niwas. SP Traffic, Mujeeb Ur Rehman was present in the meeting.
Spalzes informed that there are four hotels in the main Leh market, including hers. She also informed about the issues faced by them by the Traffic Police in picking up and dropping off tourists from their hotels.
SP Traffic Police informed the LG about the efforts made by them to ensure there is no traffic congestion, especially in the Leh main market area.
He further informed that the Traffic Police give the hoteliers enough time for picking up and dropping off tourists.
The LG instructed that traffic law should be strictly followed by everyone. He also instructed that no space should be reserved/blocked/segregated for VIPs. He further instructed to take stringent action against Traffic Police personnel found engaged in using foul language and harassing the public. The LG instructed that there should be no inconvenience to the tourists.
