Leh: The Union Territory of Ladakh will soon have revamped road infra structure as Border Road Organisation (BRO) working relentlessly and using new technologies to expeditiously develop to meet security challenges & create accident free roads for the commuters in high altitude.
“Under the Vijayak project, the BRO is working to develop Zojila-Kargil -Leh road with new technologies,” an official told IndusDispatch.
“The BRO is laying interlocaking precast concrete blocks, Dense Bituminous, Granular Sub Base work, parpet wall to ensure safer roads to the commuters,” he said.
He added retaining wall, marking & painting are the other salient feature of the roads.
He also added that work is also going on in Nubra Valley. “ The BRO is working on Berm filling, construction of culvert, sausage wall, lined drain.
He also informed that the work is under process in Drass Sector. “ Construction of retaining wall, formation, wing wall construction, Toe wall construction is going,” he said adding that reinforcement woks of Kargil town bypass bridge, excavation work of Sapi Bridge is under progress in Kargil Sector.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Border Roads Organization (BRO) is the most potent and versatile road construction agency of the Nation since 1960.
It has been instrumental in strategic and socio-economic elevation of the Northern and Eastern borders.
The works executed by BRO have ensured sustainable mobility infrastructures in the region. Which resulted in tourist influx in these scenic locations. In order to provide conducive and secure transit of tourists on these roads, a need to establish multi utility Cafes along the major tourist circuits in these regions was felt.
