Leh: In a meeting chaired by the Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson along with Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Suse and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Sonam Chosjor with all the departmental heads and the concerned stakeholders, it was decided that Ladakh rPal rNgam Duston will be celebrated on August 5th every year.
August 5th is a symbolic date as it was on August 5th, 2019 that the central government declared Ladakh to be a Union Territory.
CEC Gyalson shared that the Ladakh rPal rNgam Duston started as an initiative of the Hill Council and, its celebration on the occasion of UT Declaration Day would make it more meaningful and strengthen the event. He added that this year the event will be celebrated as a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration commemorating the 75 years of India’s Independence.
He stressed on making the event an all-inclusive one highlighting the traditions and customs of the different parts of the region. He instructed the concerned officers to finalise the theme, awards and the different events to be included, such as a heritage walk, musical concert, food and exhibition stalls.
CEC Gyalson instructed the departmental heads and the concerned officers to ensure that the Ladakh rPal rNgam Duston is celebrated in a grand manner keeping intact the aim, objective and vision of the event which focuses on celebrating the pride of Ladakh.
It was decided in the meeting to make a conference on the decided theme of the Ladakh rPal rNgam Duston an essential part of the event this year and in future too. Further, the event will be celebrated at the sub-divisional level as well.
