
Ladakh Police chief SDS Jamwal visits District Jail Leh
LEH: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), head of Police/Prisons UT Ladakh, Dr SD Singh Jamwal visited District Jail Leh last afternoon to review Jail Administration, correctional works, and the welfare of inmates as well as staff.
During his maiden visit to District Jail Leh after assuming the charge as head of Police UT Ladakh, the officer was accompanied by DIG Leh Kargil Range Sheikh Junaid Mahmood, IPS, Stanzin Norboo JKPS (SSP), AIG (Pers) PHQ UT Ladakh (Supervisory officer of District Jail Leh), Ladakh based CRPF officers DC Sh.Vikash Kumar, AC Sh. Pankaj Kumar.
On his arrival in District Jail Leh, a warm welcome was accorded by District Jail Leh headed by Superintendent Jail Sh. Tundup Dorjay, DySP and Dy. Superintendent, Inspector Jigmet Singgay
Wangdus and jail staff. The visiting dignitary was presented a guard of honour. This was followed by interaction with the Jail inmates within the prison premises. The officer was informed of the various correctional measures in terms of skill development, yoga and meditation courses for mental well-being undewrtaken for the prisoners.
To ensure their physical health, various sport facilities (Indoor/outdoor), recreational facilities are placed within the precincts of the jail. Worthy ADGP also reviewed the facilities being given to the inmates in terms of lodging, diet, medical facilities, sports, and entertainment and expressed his satisfaction.
Earlier, ADGP had a sammilan session with the Para-military force, CRPF personnel presently posted on security duty of District Jail Leh and enquired about their welfare.
Thereafter, the visiting dignitary was briefed about the administrative set up and the infrastructural conditions through a power point presentation by Superintendent Jail and apprised of the activities with regard to administrative, correctional and rehabilitation.
Various directions were given to the jail staff emphasizing matters related to security, discipline and deligence while performing their legitimate duties.
At last a Darbar was held of the prison personnel and various general issues were raised by the staff. It was ensured that he will look into these issues and address them accordingly. The visit concluded smoothly.
