A contingent from the Union Territory of Ladakh was flagged off today for the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations to be held at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.
The team was flagged off by Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, who praised the contingent comprising outstanding sportspersons representing Ladakh on the national stage.
Speaking to the media, Zubdavi said the participation of Team Ladakh symbolizes the Union Territory’s strong commitment to national unity and integration. “The contingent carries forward the message of Unity in Diversityenvisioned by Sardar Patel,” he said, adding that this year’s celebrations hold special importance as they mark 150 years of Sardar Patel’s birth.
Expressing her enthusiasm, International Taekwondo Player and State Awardee Shahnaz Parveen, a member of the contingent, said, “Team Ladakh is taking the message of unity from the frontier region of India to the birthplace of Sardar Patel — the architect of a united India.”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon citizens nationwide to participate in the Run for Unity on October 31, honoring Sardar Patel’s legacy and reinforcing the spirit of togetherness that binds the nation.
