Leh: The Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh has issued an order constituting the Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Council under the provisions of the MSME Development Act, 2006, aimed at strengthening institutional support for micro and small enterprises across the region.
As per Order No. 07–I&C of 2026 dated May 18, 2026, the Council has been formed under Sections 20 and 21 of the MSME Development Act, 2006, read with the Ladakh Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Council Rules, 2024.
The Council will be chaired by the Director, Industries & Commerce, UT Ladakh, and will include the Convenor of the UT Level Bankers’ Committee, a representative of a recognized Chamber of Industries or Association of Micro and Small Enterprises, the Joint Director Industries/General Manager DIC Leh (or equivalent), and one experienced entrepreneur from the fields of industry, finance, law, trade, or commerce, to be nominated by the Chairperson.
The jurisdiction of the Council will extend across the entire Union Territory of Ladakh. The Directorate of Industries & Commerce will provide secretarial and administrative support to ensure smooth functioning of the body.
The Administration stated that the terms and conditions of the members will be governed as per the Ladakh MSME Facilitation Council Rules, 2024, along with government instructions issued from time to time.
The move is expected to provide faster resolution of MSME-related disputes and strengthen the overall industrial and entrepreneurial ecosystem in Ladakh.
