
Leh: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) hosted a farewell party to bid adieu to Commissioner Secretary, Shri Ajeet Kumar Sahu, IAS and Executive Director, SIDCO, Shri Lakshay Singhal, IAS, at Raj Niwas.
Wishing the best for their future assignments, the HLG stated that the Administration is bidding farewell to two capable officers. He advised both officials to keep their integrity, morality and principles intact no matter what difficulties they encounter during their assignments. He also stated that one’s real character is tested when the going gets tough and advised them to carry on despite all the constraints.
The HLG felicitated both officials with khataks.
Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, informed his association with Shri Sahu when he was the Deputy Commissioner of Doda and the latter was assigned to Ramban. He stated that Shri Sahu has been an asset in all the departments where he worked. He commended Shri Sahu for his work in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Ladakh. Dr Kotwal also commended Shri Lakshya for his contributions as the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) at Nubra followed by his assignments at the Handicrafts Department and SIDCO.
Shri Sahu expressed his gratitude for organising the farewell party and for all the support he received from the HLG, the Departmental Secretaries and all the officials. He informed about various initiatives taken by him as the Commissioner Secretary of different departments over the past three years, including keeping the internal roads open throughout the winter months, the preparation of Recruitment Rules along with conducting exams through Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and District Subordinate Services Recruitment Board (DSSRB), etc. Shri Sahu assured to look into the issues of the welfare of farmers from Ladakh.
Shri Lakshay informed that Ladakh was his first place of posting after serving his probationary period at Andaman. He also informed his assignments as the SDM of Nubra, the Joint Director at the Handicrafts/Handloom Department and then the Executive Director of SIDCO and the various initiatives taken by him during his tenure in Ladakh.
Secretary to HLG, Shri Ravinder Kumar informed that Shri Sahu, a 2003 batch IAS official from the J&K Cadre, served as Deputy Commissioner Leh from 2008 to 2010 and then joined as the Commissioner Secretary of UT Ladakh in August 2020. He also informed his various assignments in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted his achievements, particularly in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Ladakh.
Shri Ravinder informed that Shri Sahu will join as Joint Secretary in the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, GoI. He also informed that Shri Lakshay, a 2019 AGMUT cadre IAS official, joined as SDM of Nubra after completing his probationary period. He further informed that Shri Lakshay also worked as Joint Director, Handloom Department and Executive Director, SIDCO.
