Leh: The Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh has reconstituted the Ladakh Police (Subordinate) Service Recruitment Board, effectively superseding all previous orders on the subject. The reconstitution aims to streamline and strengthen the recruitment process for non-gazetted posts in the Ladakh Police, Fire and Rescue, and Prison services.
According to Order No. 65-Home of 2025 issued by the Home Department, the newly constituted board will be chaired by Sh. Vikas Kumar, IPS, who is currently serving as SSP Traffic Ladakh and holding charge as DIG Leh-Kargil Range. The board also includes senior police officers from across the UT including Sh. Altaf Ahmad Shah, IPS, Commandant IRP 25th Battalion; Sh. Fulzele Piyush Nirakar, IPS, SSP Security Ladakh; Sh. Nitin Yadav, IPS, Additional SP Kargil; Sh. Rigzin Sangdup, JKPS, Additional SP Leh; and Sh. Mohd Ali, DySP (M) Kargil.
The board will oversee and supervise the first three critical stages of recruitment — the Physical Endurance Test, Physical Measurement Test, and the Written Test. These posts will be filled through a Transparent Recruitment Process (TRP), with all procedural and codal formalities observed.
To ensure flexibility in operations, the Chairman has been granted the liberty to co-opt any officer as part of the board’s deliberations when required. For any recruitment proceedings to be valid, at least half of the board members must be present, with the Chairman’s participation mandatory. In exceptional circumstances, if the Chairman is unavailable, the senior-most member may be nominated to fulfill that role temporarily.
