Leh, July 31: Chief Secretary of UT Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, on Friday conducted an extensive review of developmental works and public service delivery in the border villages of Turtuk and Bogdang during the second day of his Nubra district tour. He also interacted with local residents and elected representatives to assess grassroots issues and development priorities.
During the visit, Kundra received a memorandum from representatives of the Largyab Patsathang New Settlement Area outlining their key demands and concerns.
At Bogdang, the Chief Secretary visited the Public Library and addressed a public gathering at Government Higher Secondary School, where he was accorded a traditional welcome. Speaking to the residents, he highlighted the creation of the new Turtuk-Bogdang Tehsil and assured that grid power connectivity would be ensured before the onset of winter.
Local representatives, including the Sarpanch and Numbardar, raised issues related to infrastructure and public services, seeking early redressal.
In Turtuk, Kundra inaugurated the Hill Tribe Centre at Turtuk Yul and visited a traditional brass and copper craft shop, appreciating the region’s rich artisanal heritage. He also toured the Yabgo Museum and Palace, where officials briefed him on Baltistan’s history, Persian architectural influences, Baltistani culture, and the legacy of the Yabgo dynasty.
The Chief Secretary later inspected the Primary Health Centre, Turtuk, reviewing healthcare services, staff availability, medicine stocks, tuberculosis management, and diagnostic facilities, including the dental and laboratory sections.
He was accompanied by senior officials from the Planning, Health, Power, PWD, PHE, LREDA, district administration, police, and other departments during the visit.
