LEH: The Ladakh administration has nominated Dr Pawan Kotwal, Principal Secretary, Planning Development and Monitoring Department (PD&MD) as the nodal officer for the Aspiration Block Programme in the Union Territory.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2018, the Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP) is initiated by National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), Government of India, and aims to quickly and effectively transform most under-developed districts across the country.
The broad contours of the programme are Convergence of Central & State Schemes, Collaboration of Central, State level Nodal Officers & District Collectors, and Competition among districts through monthly delta ranking; all driven by a mass movement.
“Sanction is hereby accorded to the nomination of Principal Secretary, Planning Development & Monitoring Department, UT Ladakh as Nodal Officer to steer the Aspiration Block Programme in UT Ladakh initiated by National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), Government of India,” said an official order in this regard.
