Khaltse: In preparation for the Indus River cleanliness drive scheduled for August 1, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Khaltse, Mohd Sharif, chaired a review meeting to finalise arrangements and ensure smooth execution of the campaign. The drive will begin at 8:00 AM and aims to promote environmental sustainability and public hygiene in the region.
SDM Sharif emphasized the need for collective action and directed all officers and officials of the sub-division to participate mandatorily. He also instructed the Numberdar of Khaltse to mobilize active involvement from villagers and identify tributaries and gorges to be cleaned by the sub-divisional staff. Stressing the importance of coordination across departments, he called for unified efforts to make the drive a meaningful initiative for the local ecosystem.
The meeting witnessed participation from senior administrative, health, police, education, and engineering officials, along with representatives from the Information and Horticulture Departments. SDM Sharif concluded by urging all stakeholders to work in unison and lead by example in creating a cleaner, greener Ladakh.
