SRINAGAR: The scholars from Jammu and Kashmir studying in the Aligarh Muslim University have lodged strong resentment against an official order seeking information of the students enrolled in the varsity.
The university is preparing the database of all enrolled students, while details of the students from Jammu and Kashmir has been sought separately.
The official communique from Assistant Controller AMU addressed to all Deans and the Dean Student Welfare of the varsity, mentions that this information is to be provided to Superintendent of Police, Aligarh.
Taking a strong exception to this, Kashmiri scholars have opposed the move, terming it as an act of breaching their privacy. They said it clearly goes against the fundamental rights given by the Constitution.
It may be mentioned that around 1400 students from Jammu and Kashmir are enrolled in AMU.
