Kargil: CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan today chaired a preparatory meeting ahead of Kargil International Marathon at Conference Hall Baroo.
Besides the CEC, Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Senior Superintendent of Police Anayat Ali Choudhary, ACR Abdul Ghaffar Zargar, CPO Abdul Hadi, SE R&B Abdul Mutalib, Executive Engineer R&B, AD Tourism, AD DIPR, President SEVAK, representatives of Pune Based NGO Sarhad, transport association, hotel association, contractor association, and other stakeholders attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed medical requirements, refreshment, branding and hoardings, transportation, accommodation, traffic management, etc. The meeting decided that instead of cultural program, a facilitation ceremony will be held at Syed Mehdi Auditorium Hall.
Speaking on the occasion, CEC Khan instructed all the sub-committees to properly coordinate and make the event successful with the aim to promote Kargil for tourism and marathon in other parts of the world.
He said the event is first of its kind in Kargil and its success will open opportunities for more similar events. The CEC also instructed the private agencies to make the event successful.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the stakeholders to ensure smooth conduct of the event and perform their responsibilities assigned to them sincerely.
The SSP also instructed for proper arrangement and traffic management at proper place on time to ensure the smooth passage of athletes in the marathon.
Earlier, Race Director of Marathon, Vasant Gokhale gave a PowerPoint presentation on overall arrangements like the formation of managing committees, sub-committees, grouping and race distance, permissions from the Association of International Marathons Marathons (AIMS) and Athletics Federation of India (AFI), manpower planning etc.
Pertinently, the Kargil International Marathon which is taking place since last many years will be held on September 19, 2022, in Kargil.
