Leh: In a significant outreach to the people of Ladakh, the Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta during his recent visit to Kargil laid out a vision focused on inclusive development, youth empowerment, and addressing long-pending demands such as statehood.
Speaking to media, the LG extended warm greetings to the people of Kargil and acknowledged their contributions to the nation.
He emphasized that Ladakh has vast untapped potential, particularly in tourism, and said efforts are being made to open up new avenues for economic growth in the region.
“There’s immense scope in Ladakh. Tourism can be a major pillar for the local economy, and we will ensure the youth are provided opportunities close to home,” he stated.
He also assured that the government is committed to strengthening basic infrastructure — including water, electricity, and road connectivity — which he described as not just essential services but fundamental rights of every citizen.
When asked about the ongoing demands related to statehood and local autonomy, the LG affirmed that all genuine concerns are being considered seriously by the central government.
“Committees have been formed, dialogue is ongoing, and decisions will be made keeping Ladakh’s interests in mind. We’re moving forward with a collective vision,” he added.
