Zanskar: With anticipation building around the upcoming visit of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to Zanskar, the administration of Kargil has initiated a series of preparatory measures to ensure the event proceeds with dignity, security, and seamless coordination.
Deputy Commissioner and CEO of LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, accompanied by SSP Kargil Ram R, conducted a detailed review of the logistical and security arrangements in place for the visit. The joint team inspected key locations including the helipad, Duzin Photang, and the New Photang at Karsha, where public engagements with His Holiness are expected to take place.
During the inspection, departmental roles and responsibilities were discussed in detail to streamline efforts and eliminate any last-minute gaps in coordination. Parking arrangements for VVIPs, VIPs, and members of the general public were reviewed at all venues, along with designated arrival and departure routes to ensure safe and uninterrupted movement.
The Deputy Commissioner issued firm directions to all concerned departments to complete any remaining work by Friday, emphasizing that readiness and attention to detail were critical to the success of the visit. The visit of His Holiness is seen not only as a momentous spiritual occasion for the region but also as an opportunity to demonstrate the administrative efficiency and hospitality of Ladakh.
