Kargil : A District Election Officer (DEO)-level training programme under the National Training Programme 2025 for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) commenced today at the Conference Hall, Kargil. The training, focused on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and Special Summary Revision (SSR), was organised for BLOs of Kargil tehsil.
During the session, BLO supervisors and officers received detailed instruction on various modules related to the SIR and SSR processes, aimed at ensuring smooth electoral roll revision.
Addressing the gathering, Tehsildar Kargil and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) Tanveer Ahmed underlined the importance of the upcoming Intensive Revision scheduled for next month. “The Election Commission of India is closely monitoring this process. It is imperative that all BLOs understand the training modules thoroughly and implement them diligently during the SIR,” he emphasised.
Election Officer Zakir Hussain urged BLOs to equip themselves fully through the training to handle forthcoming assignments effectively. “BLOs and field officers serve as the grassroots custodians of the Election Commission of India. All formalities related to the Special Intensive Revision must be completed within the stipulated timeline,” he said.
Mohammed Amin, State Level Master Trainer (Ladakh), delivered an in-depth training session covering statutory provisions, duties of BLOs, enumeration of forms, publication of draft rolls, claim and objection periods, as well as penal provisions. He also briefed participants on constitutional guidelines, general duties during election periods, the role of BLOs in Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities, Booth Awareness Groups, and responsibilities on polling day.
Additionally, resource person Zakir Husain Karbalai presented a detailed session on the use of mobile applications by BLOs for efficient electoral work.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants received Certificates of Participation. Hands-on assessments were also conducted to evaluate the understanding and readiness of the BLOs.
The training programme will continue over the next five days to cover BLOs from other tehsils of Kargil district.
Apart from Tehsildar Kargil, the event was attended by Election Officer Zakir Hussain, BLO supervisors, BLOs, master trainers, and resource persons.
