Kargil: The Kargil District Administration extended a grand and heartfelt welcome to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as he arrived in the tranquil valley of Zanskar, marking a deeply spiritual and historic occasion.
Thousands of devotees, along with top dignitaries including CEC Leh Adv. Tashi Gyalson, Executive Councillor Er. Punchok Tashi, DC Kargil Rakesh Kumar, SSP Shree Ram R, and others, gathered at Photang Karsha to greet the revered spiritual leader. Also present were representatives from major religious and community organizations—Zanskar Buddhist Association, Zanskar Gonpa Association, IKMT Kargil, Anjuman e Sahib Zamaan, and Anjuman-e-Moinul Islam Zanskar.
DC Rakesh Kumar, speaking on behalf of the people of Kargil, described His Holiness as a “spiritual beacon of compassion, wisdom, and peace.” He expressed gratitude for the Dalai Lama’s continued message of non-violence and interfaith harmony, calling the occasion both sacred and historic.
His Holiness, addressing the crowd, praised the peaceful coexistence between Buddhist and Muslim communities in Zanskar and emphasized the importance of educating both heart and mind, a theme he promotes through the SEE-Learning initiative. “Time is always moving forward… the more compassionate you are, the more inner peace you will find,” he said.
The visit is part of the Zanskar Kargan Summer Philosophical Symposium 2025, focused on promoting spiritual wisdom, ethical dialogue, and mutual respect across faiths.
