Leh: The District-level Kala Utsav-2022 Competition was held at PARAS Hall, Govt Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh.

Kala Utsav is an initiative of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education (MOE), Government of India, launched in 2015, to promote arts in education, by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talent of school students (Secondary level) in the country.
The jury assessed the various performances through live performances.
Speaking on the occasion, Director, School Education, UT Ladakh, Dr Safdar Ali, emphasised the importance of arts in overall personality development of a child and appreciated the students and organising team.
The selected students performed on Six Visual /Performing Art forms viz. Vocal Music (traditional folk); Instrumental Music (percussive); Instrumental Music (melodic); Dance (folk); Visual Arts (2-D); Visual Arts (3-D); Indigenous toys and games and Solo Acting.
The finalists for the State-level Kala Utsav-2022 from Leh district include Stanzin Samchok, DPS Leh (folk dance); Jigmet Palmo, GHSS Sakti (folk dance); Jigmet Zangpo, GHSS Timisgam (folk song); Sonam Chuskit, GHSS Khaltse (folk song); Tsering Nurboo, Lamdon Model Sr Sec School, Leh (Instrumental music-melodic); Tsering Lamo, GHS Chumathang (Instrumental music-melodic); Tsewang Namgail, GHS Chumathang (Instrumental music-percussive); Stanzin Namgail, GHSS Timisgam (solo acting); Tsewang Dolma, GHSS Timisgam (solo acting); Urgain Tsering, GHSS Sakti (Visual art 2D); Jigmet Chosdon, DPS Leh (Visual art 2D); Sonam Stanzin, GHSS Saspol (Visual art 3D); Tsering Yangdol, GHSS Timisgam (Visual art 3D); Rinchen Namgail, GHS Anlay (Indigenous toy/games) and Tsering Skitzom, GHS Anlay (Indigenous toy/games).
The selected candidates/finalists will participate in State-level Kala Utsav to be held in the last week of November 2022.
