KARGIL: Kargil District Police has started a module based awareness programme for the public by officially launching it in Upti Pipting, Zanskar in order to create awareness among the public on issues such as cybercrime, substance abuse, gender related issues and also awareness on new criminal laws.
The programme which was run on a trial basis at village clusters of Panikhar, Bartoo, Lankerchey and Trespone found a good response from people. Consequently, Kargil District Police has decided to officially launch the programme with a calendar which will notionally show the dates on which the programme will be conducted in the village clusters.
The programme called ”Jaruk Kargil” aims at educating children, youth and villagers about the various social issues such as drug abuse, sexual violence and growing cybercrime.
It also creates awareness on the new criminal laws and its impact. Optionally, based on the response and interest of the attendees visits to the local police station is also organized to break the barrier between the district police and the people of Kargil.
