KARGIL, June 4: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon on Thursday conducted a detailed inspection of the ongoing road construction and widening works in Sankoo, directing officials to expedite execution and ensure strict adherence to prescribed construction standards.
Accompanied by Councillor Sankoo Agha Ahmad Rizvi, the CEC reviewed the progress of the project on the ground and interacted with officials from various departments involved in the execution of the work.
Among those present during the inspection were SDM Sankoo, revenue officials, engineers of SVD Sankoo, NHIDCL engineers, the Incharge Police Post Sankoo and representatives of the executing agency, Top Line Agency.
Taking stock of the ongoing works, Dr. Akhoon instructed the concerned departments to immediately identify and resolve all bottlenecks hindering the smooth and timely completion of the project. He stressed that developmental works of public importance must be executed efficiently without unnecessary delays.
The CEC issued clear directions that the prescribed road width of 40 feet must be maintained throughout the entire stretch of the project and asserted that no compromise on quality or approved specifications would be tolerated.
Highlighting public concerns arising from the construction activities, Dr. Akhoon directed the SDM Sankoo to take prompt measures to address issues faced by local residents and ensure that inconvenience to the public is kept to a minimum during the execution phase.
He emphasized that improved road infrastructure is crucial for enhancing connectivity, facilitating transportation and supporting the overall development of the Sankoo region.
The inspection forms part of LAHDC Kargil’s ongoing efforts to closely monitor major infrastructure projects and ensure their timely completion for the benefit of the people.
