Kargil: The Tourism Department Kargil celebrated International Mountain Day at TRC Kargil.
On this occasion Chief Planning Officer Kargil Abdul Hadi was the Chief Guest & Account Officer Kargil Shamim Ahmed Wazir and Former AD Tourism Haji Hussain Pashkum were the Guests of Honour.
Assistant Tourism Officer Kargil, Ghulam Rasool showcasing the rich Mountain History and resources of Kargil through a powerpoint presentattion. He also presented the details of achievements of the department in the year 2022.
On this occasion Tourism Department felicitated different stakeholders/organization working for promotion of Tourism in Kargil which includes special felicitation to the team of Ladakh Ski & SnowBoard Association for Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar, All Kargil Tour and Travel Association, Roots Ladakh, Ladakh Adventure Sports, Himalayan Sports & Cultural Development Association, Himalayan Heritage Foundation, Down Hill Ladakh, Friends Pashkum, and Former AD Tourism Kargil Haji Hussain Pashkum.
Abdul Hadi while spesking on this occasion said that Kargil is a mountainous Region and urged upon all stakeholders to focus on sustainable tourism as the flow of tourism this year is the highest in Kargil which touched 225498 which is the highest flow of tourist to Kargil.
Tourism in Ladakh is limited to only a few areas, resulting in overpopulation in the area. He suggested that there should be efforts to divert the tourists to other areas especially towards villages to boost up the rural economy.
He said that the aim of today’s event is to promote tourism in the region while educating and spreading awareness to public, tourists, and tourism stakeholders towards sustainable tourism.
